Obituary: Landis Wilbur Rister

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Landis Wilbur Rister, 90, of Eldorado, passed away at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Landis was born in Ridgway on Nov. 30, 1921, a son of the late Allie Pearl (Moye) and John Rister.

He was an oil pumper for Ashland Petroleum prior to retirement.

He was the widower of Mary Francis (Barger) Rister, who preceded him in death in 2000.

Landis is survived by three daughters, Judy (Clayton "Diz") Poole of Eldorado, Sandy (Mike) Gwaltney of Eldorado and Landa Rister of Eldorado. a son, Donald Petty of Eldorado; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Dorris Petty.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky Sue Martin; a son, Mike Petty; two brothers, Joe Rister and Vic Rister; three sisters, Mary Schmitt, Fern Garrison and Billie Overton; a granddaughter, Cassie Gwaltney; and a great-grandson, Kamdyn Ashby.

Memorial service will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, with the Rev. Don Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery in Ridgway.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
