Obituary: Josephine 'Nonnie' Gwin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Josephine "Nonnie" Gwin, 97, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Parkway Manor in Marion.

She was born on March 31,1914, in Paragould, Ark., to the late Willie and Mollie (Hancock) Sonheaver. On March 29, 1931, she married John Gwin and he preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1984.

Josephine and her husband John owned and operated the Gwin Grocery Store in Pankeyville from 1941 to 1948. She was a member of the Pankeyville Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She was the Vice Grand in 1977 and Noble Grand in 1978. She was crowned Ms. Liberty Bell for the Bicentennial Parade in 1976.

Many knew her on the square dancing circuit, she loved to dance and was able to until she was 93. She also loved to sew, crochet and quilt.

Survivors include three daughters, Denita (Jerome) Jones, Bonita Moore of Harrisburg and LaNell Hensley of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Johnita Jones, Kathy (Steve) Powell, Sara (Larry) Beal, Mike Moore, Kerri (Randy) Waters, Shaun (Taryn) Hensley and Greg Hensley; 10 great-grandchildren, Todd (Heidi) Carder, Brigette (David) Owens, Megan (Ryan) Hill, Jillian Powell, Kristin (Patrick) Horstmann, Ben Beal, Cate Waters, Lexi and Tori Hensley and Haven Hensley; seven great-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Dalton Carder, Kaylynn Owens, Ryder and Rieslyn Hill, and Tucker and Libby Horstmann; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Laymond Sanders.Special thanks to her "family" at Parkway Manor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Lowell and baby Willie Sonheaver, sister, Merle Carnett; and great-grandchild, Crew Hensley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Brigette Owens and Darrell Eisenhauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the DeVos Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
