Obituary: Hazel Gladys Harper

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Hazel Gladys Harper, 99, of Omaha, passed away at her home at 6:35 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1912, in Bellmont, the daughter of Harm J. and Molly (Parmenter) Meyer. Hazel married Luther Sherman Harper on Nov. 26, 1936, at the Omaha Methodist Church. Luther preceded her death on July 17, 1991.

Hazel was a well known resident of Omaha and was a piano and organ teacher for many years. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star May Chapter in Norris City and a member of the Omaha Home Extension and Omaha Senior Citizens, Baptist Aid Society and Omaha Methodist Church.

Hazel is survived by her son-in-law, John J. Starrett of Memphis, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Warren J. Meyer; and her daughter, Marilyn Sue Starrett.

Visitation for Hazel will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011.
