Obituary: Dennis R. Hicks

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dennis R. Hicks, Sr. 54, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16., 2011 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1957 in Long Beach, Cali. to Wilma (Lambert) Hicks and the late Richard Paul Hicks, Sr. On Feb. 16, 1980, he married Christine Stricklin and she survives.

Dennis was a retired parole officer for the Illinois Dept. of Corrections. He was a United States Army veteran. Dennis enjoyed spending time with friends and family, golf and baseball.

Surviving family members include his wife; Christine Hicks of Harrisburg, three sons; Justin Davis of Indiana, Matthew Davis of Indiana and Dennis R. Hicks, Jr. of Harrisburg, mother; Wilma Hicks of Harrisburg, brothers; Richard (Paula) Hicks of Harrisburg and Danny (Vicki) of Harrisburg, sister; Pat (Ronald) Shetler of Golconda, granddaughter; Ryla Denae Hicks, grandson; Samuel Davis of Indiana, mother-in-law; Izetta Stricklin of Eldorado, several family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Paul Hicks, Sr., brother; Ronald Dean Hicks, granddaughter; Chayanne E. Hicks, and father-in-law; Herschel Stricklin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wed., Oct. 19., 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Pastor Robbie Smith of Cornerstone Church, Johnston City, will officiate. Burial will follow in Butler Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. To 2 p.m., Wed., Oct. 19, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
