Obituary: Juanita June Pankey

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Juanita June Pankey, 87, of Thompsonville passed away at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at the Marion Rehab and Nursing Home in Marion.

June was born on March 13, 1924, in Eldorado to Martin Andy and Grace M. (Kingston) Summer. She married Harry Pankey on June 17, 1941 in Jackson, Mo., and he preceded on Sept. 26, 2008.

June was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thompsonville, where she was very active. She at one time was in the church choir, taught Sunday School, church clerk, church librarian and the church secretary from 1990 to 2007. June and her husband Harry were co-owners of the Pankey Insurance Agency in Thompsonville from 1965 to 1977.

June is survived by three children, Robert Dean (Charlotte) Pankey of Whittington, Cathy Sue (Stephen) Bundy of West Frankfort and Russell Martin (Patricia) Pankey of Raymore, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; and two brothers, Francis and Jerry Summers.

She was preceded by her parents; husband; a daughter, Carla Rae Tennant; a brother, Carl Summers; and an infant sister, Barbara Summers.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 7, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Thompsonville with visitation at 10 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Bob Pankey, June&#39;s grandson, will officiate. Arrangements are in the charge of Sloan Funeral Home, Galatia. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Thompsonville.
