Obituary: Opal Everett Hanley
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Opal Everett Hanley, 90, McLeansboro, died 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at her residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Dwayne Jolly officiating. Burial will be in Rockford Cemetery, Strasburg. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born on April 11, 1921, in Strasburg to the late Charles and Mae (Ritter) Shanholtzer. On April 11, 1940, she married Roy Hanley in St. Louis, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 1945. In August 1980, she married Roy Hanley, who preceded her in death in December 1981.
She was a nurse's aide at Ferrell Hospital and Magnolia Shelter Care in Eldorado. She attended the Gospel Assembly Church in Eldorado. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. She loved cooking and was a great cook.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Ruby) Everett of McLeansboro and John Eugene Everett of Champaign; two stepsons, Bill (Theresa) Hanley of Eldorado and Donald Hanley of St. Louis, Mo.; four stepdaughters, Corrine Peterson of Centralia, Lorene (Ronald) Greenwalt of O'Fallon, Mo., Lois Martin of Houston, Texas and Donald (Ronald) Hooper of Eldorado; four daughters, Judy (Joel) Conaway of Carmi, Irma (Jim) Lingreen of Champaign, Betty (James) Ashley of St. Joseph and Mary Reardon of Mattoon; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister; and a brother, Max Shanholtzer.
