Obituary: Everett Dee Payne
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Everett Dee Payne, 82, of Delwood, was called home to his Lord, at 9:38 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011. Dee was born the son of Clarence and Lola Payne, on Aug. 27, 1929, in Gallatin County in Southern Illinois. He married Gladys Hogg, on Nov. 22, 1952. Married for 59 years, they were not only husband and wife, but best friends.
After serving his country in the Army for three years, Dee worked as a carpenter, a real estate agent, and Conoco Pipeline. He retired from Conoco in 1992. He was a member of the Free Masons Masonic Lodge of Stockwell, Ind., for 47 years.
Dee loved his church, Macedonia Baptist, helping others, and long drives in the country with his wife, but what he loved most, was spending time with his family.
Dee is survived by his wife Gladys, his three boys and their spouses, Richard and Beth, Randy and Tracy and Ron and Cheryl; grandchildren, Julie, Joshua, Melissa, Ashley, Ryan, Taylor, Joe, Kelsi, Taylor, Kristen, Brandon, Meaghan and Madison; great-grandchildren, Emily, Anthony, Sarah, Austin, Avery, Logan, Alex and Hunter, brothers, Robert Payne, Larry Payne and Alan Carnett; and a sister, Linda Leonard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lola Payne; a daughter, Donna Jean; four brothers, Tom Payne, John S. Payne, George Hise and Jack Hise; and a great-grandson, Devon Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Darrell Ford, the Rev. Leroy Hicks and the Rev. Buddy Sork will officiate and burial will follow in Hogg Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Harrisburg American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and National Guard. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Masonic Rites will begin at 7 p.m. and will be conducted by the Harrisburg Masonic Lodge.
