Obituary: Margaret E. 'Margadean' Hawkins

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Margaret "Margadean" Hawkins, 86, a resident of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at her residence.

Margadean was born on Jan. 27, 1925, in Ledford, the youngest of six children to the late "Red" and Lillie (Mullinix) Dennis. Margadean married Clifford Hawkins on July 27, 1945, and they enjoyed 53 years of married life until his death in 1999.

Margadean was a 4th Commandment Sabbath keeper and she and her daughter, Priscilla, hosted church in their home every Saturday.

Surviving family members include her three daughters, Susan Speckman of Paducah, Ky., Emily Park of Dallas, Texas and Priscilla Hawkins of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Amanda, Joel and Cliff; and nine great-grandchildren, Kayla, Brianna, Sydney, Matthew, Erin, Jacob, Zion, Torian, and one soon to be born, Enoch.

Margadean was the last of her generation of the Dennis family except for a cousin, Dale Love, of Gainesville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff; her first grandson, Alex Mawdsley; a great-grandchild, Chancey; and the following siblings Ione Thomas, Lowell Dennis, Audrie Walker, Fay Parris, and Jess Dennis.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Bro. Wendell Yeary will officiate, and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
