Obituary: Barbara Ann Waddell
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Barbara Ann Waddell, 74, of Harrisburg went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011.
Barb formerly worked as the assistant manager at the Dollar General Store in Harrisburg. She also formerly worked as a retail clerk for K-Mart and Kresge's in Harrisburg.
She was a member of the Pankeyville Baptist Church, having formerly served as the church clerk.
Barb was born June 11, 1937, in Harrisburg to William Arthur and Anna Lee (Wilkins) Smothers.
Barb was united in marriage with James Dean Waddell on Jan. 11, 1956, in Harrisburg.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Jim Waddell of Harrisburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Jan Waddell of Herrin, Keith and Alisa Waddell of Simpson and Rick and Terri Waddell of Alto Pass; seven grandchildren and their spouses, J. C. and Tracie Waddell of Herrin, Jera and Nate Muder of Riverton, GM2 Adam and Karen Waddell stationed with the U. S. Navy at Norfolk, Va., Samantha Jo Waddell of Ozark, Dana Hooven and her husband, Daniel of Harrisburg, and Sarah Woodworth and Michael Woodworth of Alto Pass; five great-grandchildren, Haile Rea Waddell and Cameron Waddell of Herrin, Rachael Hooven and Cort Evan Hooven of Harrisburg, Connor William Muder of Riverton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Dallas Smothers of Harrisburg, Donald and Ann Smothers of Roanoke, Ind.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen Puckett of Duchesne, Utah, Dorothy and Charlie Buchanan of Harrisburg, Mary and Larry Cantrell of Vandalia and Mary Smothers of Wapakoneta, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Phyllis Harris of Harrisburg and Brenda Sandoval of Eldorado.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Waddell in infancy, her parents and a brother, Bob Smothers.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at Pankeyville Baptist Church in Harrisburg with Pastor Stephen Nyberg officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the Pankeyville Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Memorial donations are suggested and may be made to Pankeyville Baptist Church, 935 Highway 145 South, Harrisburg, Ill. 62946 or to the the Blue-West Team, Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, Ill. 62959; envelopes will be available at the church.
The family of Barbara Waddell wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Dr. Suzanne Guato, the staff, nurses and CNAs at Parkway Manor in Marion for the excellent care and concern provided to her and her family. A special thank-you to the many family and friends who blessed her with personal visits and prayers. Your kindness has not gone unnoticed and is truly appreciated. It is comforting to know she was surrounded by so much love.
