Obituary: Phyllis Jane Davis
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Phyllis Jane Davis, 77, of 524 Elder St., died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
She was born in Eldorado to the late Charles and Vera (Mahan) Etherton on Sept. 7, 1933. On July 31, 1950, she married James E. "Cricket" Davis and he survives in Eldorado. She was a member of the Eldorado First Christian Church. She drove a school bus for Eldorado Unit No. 4 for eight years. She helped in many aspects of the family business, even driving spreader trucks. Her most important job was babysitting the grandchildren. And she loved reading, spending time with family and attending church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Linda (Danny) Cummins of Eldorado, Mrs. Shirley (David) Naas of Eldorado and Mrs. Kandy (Wade) Masterson of Carmi; five grandchildren, Cassandra (Tim) Wiemken, Jameson (Samantha) Cummins, Amie (Noah) Stearns and Kenley and Braeden Masterson; and three great-grandchildren, Caden and Colin Cummins and Davis (Davie) Stearns. Phyllis is also survived by a sister, Roberta Sue Barton of Eldorado.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Troy and Clyde Pate; and two sisters, Helen Wakeman and Billie Davidson.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at the Eldorado First Christian Church. Pastor Dennis Robison, Pastor Herb Buche and Pastor Howard Stearns will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at the Watson Funeral Home and also from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions in Phyllis's honor may be made to the First Christian Church and left at the funeral home.
