Obituary: William Andrew Overton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[William Andrew Overton, 84, of Ridgway, passed away at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Ridgway Manor Nursing Home in Ridgway.
He was born near Ridgway on June 27, 1927, to Adron and Ruth (Reynolds) Overton. Bill married Billie Elaine Rister on Jan. 18, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2009.
He proudly served his country during World War II as a Navy Seabee. Bill was a machinist for Continental Can in Chicago and also at Babcock and Wilcox in Mt. Vernon, Ind. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Ridgway.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Pamela and Duane Schoffstoll of Joliet, Rebecca Ann Wright of Evansville, Ind. and Ali Jo and Van Holman of Wilmington; two sons, Randy Morris and Cathy Overton of Morris, William Perry and Holly Overton of Kingston, Wash.; two sisters, Irma and Noble Moye of Ridgway, Judy Koerner, also of Ridgway; and one brother, Gene and Elsie Overton of Alton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Dale and Tom Overton.
Visitation for Bill will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. The Rev.
