Obituary: John F. Hayter
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[John F. Hayter, 64, of Tovey, formerly of Broughton and McLeansboro, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, in Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville.
He was born in McLeansboro, March 16, 1947, the son of Roy and Pauline (Allen) Hayter. He married Virgie Magos in 1989 in Taylorville.
Mr. Hayter was a retired boilermaker and worked for the village of Tovey. He loved old cars and NASCAR racing.
John is survived by his wife Virgie of Tovey; son, Darren (Robbie) Hayter of Lebanon, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Debbie (Chris) McWhorter of Pawnee; grandchildren, Andrew Hayter of Marion, Melissa McWhorter of Pawnee and Kristen and Jonathon Magos of Indianapolis, Ind.; great-grandson, Charles Hayter of Marion; two sisters, Joyce (Larry) Gunter of Elkhart, Ind. and Phyllis Mayberry of Broughton; and a brother, Phillip (Jan) Hayter of Yamaha, Wash.
John was preceded in death by his father; mother; and a stepson, David Magos.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, in Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid. The Rev. Chad Foster will officiate. Visitation will be held there two hours prior to services. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, in Hickory Hill Cemetery, Broughton. The Rev. Bill Gholson will officiate.
