Obituary: John R. 'Ole Red' Pingleton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[John R. "Ole Red" Pingleton, 76, Harrisburg, passed away at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
John was born on Dec. 9, 1934, in Raleigh to the late John and Clare (Rude) Pingleton. He was a truck driver for Roy Brown Trucking and retired from Martin Marietta Materials after 20 years. He was a Baptist by faith. On June 2, 1990, John married Brenda (Jones) Williams and she survives in Harrisburg.
In addition to his wife Brenda, he is survived by five children, Sherri (Tim) Ramsey of Harrisburg, Jay D. (Renee) Williams of Harrisburg, Jimi Lea Williams of Harrisburg, Jonathan (Kim) Williams of Harrisburg and Pam (Jerry) Barnard of Harrisburg; a brother, Jesse Cloyd (Martha) of Raleigh; two sisters, Gertrude Bishop of Whitwell, Tenn. and Mary Evans of Harrisburg; two brothers-in-law, Lindell (Donna) Jones of Morris and Glendell Jones of Harrisburg; two nephews, Steve Pingleton and Mike Pingleton of Indianapolis, Ind.; a niece, Sharon (Mike) Gall; seven grandchildren, Garrick (Amy) Simpson, Jade (Dillon) Williford, Craig (Maura) Williams, Ashley (Kevin) Wehner, Nathan Williams, Miah Barnard and Riley Barnard; four great-grandchildren, Abigail Simpson, Caleb Williford, Cole Williford and Kyndall Williams; and his father-in-law, Clifton Jones of Harrisburg.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Neal Pingleton; a brother, James Cloyd; two sisters, Edith Violet and Clara Callahan; a granddaughter, Natalie Simpson Grubbs; and his mother-in-law, June Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Barry Bascom and the Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate. Burial will follow in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorials may be made to the Trail to Life Cross Memorial or Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
