Obituary: Lawrence F. Gray

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lawrence F. Gray, 82, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at his home.

He was born April 25, 1929, in Lyon County, Ky.

He retired from Whirlpool after 36 years and was a member of Local 808.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Julia (Cunningham) Gray; infant son, Steven D. Gray; two brothers, John E. (Bill) Gray, and George (Buck) Gray; and three sisters, Nellie Ramey, Anna Oliver and Zelma Stallons.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy N. Gray; daughter, Joannie Phillips of Newburgh, Ind.; son, Dennis Gray (Dawn) of Harrisburg; daughter Michelle Stroup (Kevin) of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; sister, Imogene (Polly) Hamock of Mackinaw; six grandsons, Jared Gray, Cameron Nolan, Alec Nolan, Trent Rash, Eric Stroup and Darren Phillips; three granddaughters, Lindsey Meyer, Jamie Gray and Rachel Cox; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Don Moore, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, and 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
