Obituary: Vacal Jordan

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Vacal Jordan, 100, Carrier Mills, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

Vacal was born on Nov. 29, 1910, in Hamilton County to the late James and Margie (Essary) Estes. She married Sneed Jordan in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1976. Vacal was a seamstress and a Baptist by faith.

She is survived by her sister, Verbal Sheldon of Harrisburg, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Carl Estes; a sister, Verla Waller; and two brothers and one sister in infancy.

A graveside service will precede burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Alan Monroe will officiate. There will be no visitation; those wishing to attend should gather at the cemetery. Reed Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
