Obituary: Joseph Boyke

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joseph Boyke, 80, of Harrisburg, died at 8:02 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Joseph was born in Harco on July 1, 1930, a son of the late Helen (Balog) and Steve Boyke.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Harrisburg and was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus.

He worked as a salesman for Pfizer. After retirement he and his wife moved to Florida and were employed by the Walt Disney Company for 15 years.

He was the husband of the former Lavetta Fritts, who survives.

Joseph is also survived by two daughters, Paula (Steve) Lindsey of Harrisburg and Mary Jean Lilley of Pinckneyville; three sons, Stephen H. Boyke of Carbondale, Joseph C. (Debbie) Boyke of Harrisburg and John (Pam) Boyke of Richmond; three sisters, Louise (Tom) Lippiatt of Columbus, Ind., Agnes (John) Reeder of Collinsville and Delores (Jack) Sorenson of Waukegan; and two brothers, Robert (Butch) Boyke of North Chicago and James (Marilyn) Boyke of Waukegan.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Shewmake; a son-in-law, Tom Lilley; a sister, Mary Evrard; and three brothers, Steve D. Boyke, Paul M. Boyke and Andrew Boyke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Mary Catholic Church of Harrisburg at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011, with Father Ignatius Okonkwo officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Arrangements are in the charge of Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado.
