Vernon Owen 'Uncle Vernon' Hollister

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Vernon Owen "Uncle Vernon" Hollister, 103, McLeansboro, died 10:50 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery with graveside military rites by American Legion Post No. 106 and Illinois military funeral honors. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the funeral home.

He is survived by a brother, two nephews, a niece and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was the second oldest World War II veteran still living in Illinois at the time of his death.
