</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Vernon M. Hazel Jr., 55, Old Shawneetown, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his residence.

Vernon will be cremated and private interment of the ashes will be held at a later date in the Hazel Bend Cemetery in Kentucky. Arrangements are in the charge of Cox and Son Funeral Home, Shawneetown.

He is survived by two sisters, a brother and many nieces and nephews.
