Mary Elizabeth Coker

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Elizabeth Coker, 93, of Harrisburg, passed away at 10:34 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Mary was born on Aug. 21, 1917, in Harrisburg to the late Edward and Lorena (Berry) Chester. She married Walter Coker on Sept. 1, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2009.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg and was active in many church activities over the years including Suzanna Wesley Sunday School class, United Methodist Women and the annual Christmas Bazaar. Mary was also an active member of the Harrisburg Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Martha McDermott and husband Charles of The Villages, Fla.; son, Richard Coker of Green Valley, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jonathan Gabrys, Christopher Gabrys, Julianne Wells and Laura Blandford; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Chester; and a brother in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Dr. David Estep will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
