Verla B. Healy
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Verla B. Healy, 80, of Herod, passed away at 8:32 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
She was born on March 7, 1931, in the Oak community of Pope County to the late George Green and Nellie (Fulkerson) Hart. Verla was married to James Thomas "Tom" Healy on June 11, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1982.
She was a retired bus driver for the Pope County Schools; a member of the Order of Eastern Star; Hill Toppers Home Extension; Shawnee Happy Hatters and was a board member of the Gossage Cemetery Board for many years. She attended Cedar Bluff Church.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Frances and husband Leslie Hardin of Herod and Nancy and husband Jerry Rann of Herod; four grandchildren, Amanda and husband Dewayne Hobbs; Samantha and husband Tom Love; Robert Hardin and James and wife Traci Rann; six great-grandchildren, Alexandra Love, Jessi Hobbs, Madison Love, Ellie Rann, Owen Rann and Sophie Rann; two sisters-in-law, Leota Humm of Harrisburg and Mary Hoffman of Texas; one aunt; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Jackson and Rev. Lee Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow in Gossage Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, with Eastern Star Rites at 7 p.m. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gossage Cemetery and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
