The Rev. Charles Melvin Scott
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Rev. Charles Melvin Scott, 82, Harrisburg, passed away at 10:22 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at Finnie Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Charles was born on May 6, 1928, in Bicknell, Ind., to the late Charles Ira and Nellie (Day) Scott. He married Dorothy A. Basinger on June 1, 1950, and she preceded him in death on June 5, 2006.
Charles was a retired minister and had pastored the Nazarene Church of Harrisburg in the late 1950s. He also pastored other churches in Illinois and Indiana. He was a member of the Nazarene Church of Harrisburg.
Charles is survived by three children, Dr. James R. Scott and wife Crystal of Bay Village, Ohio, Steven M. Scott of Harrisburg and Neva Julian of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Becky Horsfall and husband Johnny of North Olmstead, Ohio, Luke Scott of Fairview Park, Ohio, Phil Scott of Bay Village, Ohio, Beau Julian, Dan Julian and Lindsey Julian; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; one grandchild, Marcus Julian; two sisters, Lodiena Yott and Helen Wedding; and one brother, Ralph Scott in infancy.
Funeral services for the Rev. Charles Melvin Scott will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Dr. James Spruce and the Rev. Gary Clark will officiate; burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
