Alpha Ovata Thomas
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Alpha Ovata Thomas, 94, a resident of Eldorado, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Alpha was born Oct. 31, 1916. in Sturgis, Ky., to the late Sam and Nora (Denton) Carr. She married the Rev. E. W. "Brudge" Thomas, Church of God pastor, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Church of God. In addition to being a homemaker, she was very active in her church. She taught Sunday School and Bible School and played the organ for church and her own pleasure. She enjoyed many types of crafts such as ceramics, painting, calligraphy, embroidery and quilting. Alpha had a gift for detail in all she did and her handiwork was always beautiful.
Alpha is survived by two children, Gary (Faye) Thomas of Harrisburg and Sandi (Ron) Haddock of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Greg (Lisa) Thomas of Harrisburg, Cindy (Richard) Simpson of Harrisburg, Roni (Alan) Campey of Morgan Hills, Calif., Mark (Tiffany) Haddock of Plano, Texas and Rick (Beth) Haddock of Allen, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Hilary (Matt) Ford of Harrisburg, Garrett (Jami) Thomas of Harrisburg, Clint Simpson of Springfield, Melissa Simpson (Paul) Tikusis of Florence, Wis., Jordan Haddock a Marine serving in Afghanistan, Kameron Haddock of Plano, Texas, Haydon Haddock of Plano, Texas and Taylor Haddock of Plano, Texas; five great-great-grandchildren, Lilli and Jack Ford of Harrisburg, Haley Mead and Marshall Tikusis both of Florence, Wis., Gage Thomas of Harrisburg and the anticipation of another great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Yeatts and Marie Heller.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday March 29, 2011 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at the funeral home.
