Aaron James Winters

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Aaron James Winters, 23, of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at his residence in Harrisburg.

Aaron was born on Feb. 23, 1988, in Evansville, Ind., the son of Dean and Keri (Roper) Winters. Aaron grew up in Harrisburg. He loved life and people. Throughout his life, he was always a sports lover. He played football for Harrisburg High School, participated in track and field and going to the state finals for discus throwing. His love for sports carried throughout his adult life as an avid weightlifter and fan. He enjoyed watching ESPN and talking with family and friends about sports. He also loved being outdoors and hunting. Aaron was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg.

Aaron is survived by his father, Dean Winters and fianc&#233;e Janice of Elizabethtown; mother, Keri Shimp and husband Jody of Harrisburg; stepsister, Nicole Shimp of Harrisburg; stepbrother, Kelly Shimp of Harrisburg; soon-to-be stepbrother, Reese Conkle of Elizabethtown; niece, Kinzley Stewart of Harrisburg; maternal grandmother, Lena Roper of Harrisburg; paternal grandmother, Eva Winters; aunts and uncles, Walden and Kathy (Roper) Morris of Harrisburg, Bill and Katherine (Harwell) Roper of Pulaski, Tenn., Terry and Tammy Shimp of Crystal Lake, Rusty Shimp of Aurora, Shane and Sue (Shimp) Sauer of Chandler, Ariz., Don and Sandy Shimp of Ottawa, Leon and Anastasia Crider of Metairie, La., Doug and Carolyn Winters of Marion, and Dennis and Debbie Winters of Marion; cousins, Erik and Maria Roper, Angela Morris, Samantha Roper, Melissa Andregg, Timmy Winters, Tiffany Winters, Heather Winters, and Harry Crider; and many, many cousins in the Chicago region.

Aaron was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bill Roper; paternal grandfather, Harry Winters; and stepgrandfather, Donald Shimp.

Funeral services for Aaron J. Winters will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. David Estep will officiate; burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
