Geraldine 'Jerry' Allen
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Geraldine "Jerry" Allen, 76, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on March 21, 2011, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Jerry was born June 25, 1934, in Hamilton County to Lando and Beulah Webb. Jerry married Bill Allen on Sept. 6, 1952.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Allen; son, Bruce Allen of Harrisburg, and his companion Scarlett Emery; daughter, Kim Allen of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Joshua Allen of Harrisburg and his wife Alesha; Jacob Allen of Plainfield, Ind. and his wife Keely; great-grandson, Luke Allen; her little buddy, Parker Clarida; and three siblings, Cordelia R. Bonds of Evansville, Pauline Eifler of Knoxville, Tenn. and Frank Webb of Omaha.
Jerry attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville. She began working for the Social Security Office of Hearings and Appeals. There she made many friendships that would last her lifetime. Jerry retired after more than 30 years of service.
Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, reading, watching old movies, spending the winter at her Florida home, but most important to her was tending to her family. She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister and caregiver, but most of all a friend to everyone she met.
She so enjoyed the time spent with her family. Regardless of where they were or what they were doing, as long as they were all together, that was what made her happiest. During her illness, she remained a caregiver to her family. Her care and concern for her family and others always took precedence over herself.
Her children were her proudest achievement, and it showed each time she spoke of them or they were in her presence. Her grandsons were her gems. Grandma Jerry traveled many miles to attend ballgames, birthday parties, and any event they were a part of. She considered herself their "biggest fan" and no one argued with her. Her smile beamed brightest when she was with Josh and Jake.
Her smile, laughter, and wit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Debbie Allen.
A memorial service to honor Jerry's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Sunset Funeral Home in Evansville, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Allen, Dr. Rieti, Dr. Johnson, and Dr. Ballou for the loving care they gave to Jerry. Also special thanks for all the prayers said in her behalf during her illness. She's safe in the arms of God now.
