William Edward 'Ed' Morris

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[William Edward "Ed" Morris Sr., 82, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Ferrell Hospital, Eldorado.

Ed was born to Frank and Violet Morris on Sept. 20, 1929. He was united in marriage to Mary M. Asher Morris, and together they shared more than 63 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Kitty (Dan) Martin of Eldorado; son, Bill (Marilyn) Morris of Thompsonville; eight grandchildren, Chelle (Michael) Watson Lehman of Iowa City, Iowa, Cathy (Marty) Watson Turner of Waxsaw, N.C., Scott Watson of Marion, Gabe (Marla) Martin of Energy, Jonah (Mohria) Martin of Energy, Maggie (Jake) Davis of Marion, Emily (Daniel) Hartford of Dandenog, Australia and Will (Bec) Morris of Lamoni, La.; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew Lehman, Christian Lehman, Amara Lehman, Emma Turner, Becca Turner, Payton Martin, Nola Martin, Maddie Martin and Joseph Hartford; and one brother, Dwain Morris (Carol) of Valparaiso, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Violet Morris; and a daughter, Becky Morris Watson.

Ed attended Beulah Heights Grade School and Eldorado High School (1946). He was a coal miner for 36 years. His community service included: Beulah Heights school board member, Lions Club member, coach of Khoury League baseball and other sports activities. Ed has been recognized as a loyal friend and supporter of Eldorado youth and sports programs.

Ed was a member of the Community of Christ. There he served in the following ways -- pastor, district presidency, youth leader, youth camp director and delegate to international conference. He served in pastoral ministry as an evangelist.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Members of the family will be officiating. Burial will be at Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions honoring Ed may be made to the Community of Christ for establishing a Peace Award for Eldorado youth.
