Shirley A. Massey
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Shirley A. Massey, 71, of Galatia and formerly of the Rhine area in Long Branch Township north of Raleigh, passed away at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in the Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born in Saline Co. on July 12, 1939, to the late Clifford and Frances (Evans) Hull. Shirley married Ted Massey on Aug. 26, 1957, and was married for 53 years.
She worked early in life at the Carps Store in Harrisburg and then the ASCS office as a program assistant in Harrisburg.
Shirley attended Liberty Baptist Church in Harrisburg and also Little Chapel Church in Raleigh. Shirley was a loving grandmother whose greatest joy in life came from her grandchildren, Emily, Noah, Elizabeth Drone and Ashley and Kristen Massey. her goals were fulfilled as she watched them grow and supported their talents and pursuit of education.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Ted; a son, Michael Ted Massey of Savoy; a daughter, Lisa Drone of West Frankfort; five grandchildren, Emily, Noah, Elizabeth Drone, Ashley and Kristen Massey; two brothers, Dwight Hull of Galatia and Joe Hull of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; and a sister, Vivian Harris.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the funeral home. Officiating will be Gaylon Parks with burial in the Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Raleigh Masonic Cemetery and Hospice of Southern Illinois
