Maggie (McCutcheon) Thompson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Maggie (McCutcheon) Thompson, 90, Carrier Mills, died at 7:40 a.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011.

She was born on Aug. 27, 1920, in Carrier Mills to the late Earl and Addie Roe Hancock. She was first married to George McCutcheon on Jan. 20, 1936, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1964. She later married Oral Thompson on Sept. 19, 1984, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1999.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills and was a member of the former Comfort Rebekah Lodge No. 48. She was a retired secretary for IBM in Chicago.

She is survived by her daughters, Georgia Cowger of Carrier Mills and Donna (Bob) Hooke of Las Vegas, Nev.; her grandchildren, Jacque McKinney, Greg Cowger, David Cowger, Dawn Hesson, Robert Sipple, Daniel Goodbody and Derrick Hooke; several great-grandchildren, Aaron Gibbs, Joshua McKinney, Kaley Mancaruso, Moriah McKinney, Nicholas Cowger, Cody Cowger, Jordan Hessen, Garrett Hessen, Robert Sipple III, Dallan Cowger, Camden Cowger, Addison Cowger, Ky Gibbs and Krista Hunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one brother, Harold Hancock; and two sisters, Genevieve Quick and Yulondia Turner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Stan Irvin officiating and eulogies by Steve McKinney and Bob Hooke. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the funeral home.

The family has asked that flowers please be omitted. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home.
