Mary E. Frields
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary E. Frields, 92, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at her home with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time. Visitation in Iowa will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mary was born March 11, 1918, in Eldorado, the daughter of George and Mary Ellen (Shumate) Hanselman. She was united in marriage to Issac A. Frields in Dec. 31, 1931, in Eldorado. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1979.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and her love of telling stories. She encouraged everyone she knew to have fun and enjoy themselves. Mary also enjoyed country music and dancing.
Those left to honor her memory include her children and their spouses, George and Kyung Frields of Arizona, Virginia and Ivan Mills of Davenport, Iowa, Mary Ann and Andre St. Pierre of LeClaire, Iowa, Wilma and Chuck Carlson of Davenport, Iowa, Randall and Diane Frields of Cambridge, Neva and Max Casad of DeWitt, Iowa, and Roger and Mona Frields of Eldorado; 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, George Hanselman of Ottawa.
In addition to her husband, Issac, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, James; her sisters, Lou Kuecker, Rose Roberts and Pruella Plunkett; and her brothers, Earl and Guy Plunkett and Simon and Floyd Hanselman.
The family would like to express special thanks to Genesis VNA Hospice, Dr. Sy, Dr. Edwards, Dr. Miller and the nurses and staff of their offices for all of their care and concern during this time.
