Fern Friend

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Fern Friend, 92, of Eddyville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.

Fern was born in Pope County to Abraham and Darcus (Hardin) Bailey. She married Paul E. Friend on Dec. 31, 1936; he preceded her on Feb. 5, 1994.

She is survived by two sons, Edward and Roberta Friend of Harrisburg and Murray and Susan Friend of Eddyville; two granddaughters, Cynthia and Richard Fulkerson of Harrisburg and Melissa Reiner of Harrisburg; one grandson, Michael and Shelley Friend of Eddyville; and two great-grandchildren, Whitney Reiner and Brandon Reiner.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roy Friend; four brothers, John Bailey, Alfred Bailey, Van Bailey and Linder Bailey; and a sister, Myrtle Clardy.

Fern was a homemaker. She was a member of Cedar Grove Social Brethren Church. She attended the Glendale United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Aly Funeral Home, Eddyville. The Rev. Murrell Hazel will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Aly Funeral Home.
