Ralph Tarrant
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ralph O. Tarrant, 99, of rural Omaha, passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
He was born on March 12, 1911, in Omaha to Edward and Julia Anna (Utley) Tarrant. He married Elsie Rhea Greer on Dec. 25, 1935, and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2008.
Ralph was a farmer and a veteran of the World War II Army.
He is survived by a daughter, Marilyn and Gerald Shain of Omaha; three sons, Larry and Nancy Tarrant of Springhill, Tenn., Vaughn and Linda Tarrant of Sacramento, Calif., and Rick and Patti Tarrant of Omaha; one brother, Elvis L. and Betty Tarrant of Godfrey; eight grandchildren, Anita and Mike Lowery of Omaha, Douglas and Angie Shain of Norris City, Russell and Sharon Tarrant of Shingle Springs, Calif., Mark and Julie Tarrant of Zionsville, Ind., Randy Tarrant of Columbus, Ohio, Mendy and Kendall Dale of Carmi, Nikki Tarrant of Omaha, and Tabitha and Byron Neal of Norris City; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two grandsons, Eric and Alan Shain; two sisters, Mamie and Mildred; and seven brothers, Eslie, Milton Ray, William David, Paul Edward, Marshall Wilburn, Clyde Elmo, and Eugene A. Tarrant.
Visitation for Ralph will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha. Funeral service for Ralph will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011. The Rev. Fred Leeds will be officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Oval Cemetery near Norris City with military rites by Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596. Internet condolences may be left at the Internet site www.vickeryfuneralchapel.com.
