Shirley Joann Thaxton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Shirley Joann Thaxton, 74, Eldorado, died 9:47 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah, Ky.
She was born May 3, 1936, in Harrisburg to Cleo and Beatrice (McNew) Prather. Shirley married William Thaxton on June 9, 1956.
Shirley was a homemaker and an active member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her husband, William Thaxton of Eldorado; one son, Greg (Jan) Thaxton of Eldorado; two grandchildren, Lynsey and Jayse Thaxton of Eldorado; two brothers, Kenneth (Adalena) Prather of Almagoro, N.M. and Michael Prather of Harrisburg; one sister, Barbara (Larry) Soletti of Oakland, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Linda Knight of Eldorado. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Donald Prather.
Visitation for Shirley was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Watson Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Ford and the Rev. Art Watson officiating. Burial was at Wolf Creek Cemetery.
