Gene Cook

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gene Cook, 87, Wasson, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Saline Care Center, Harrisburg.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery with military rites. Visitation is noon to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Eldorado to Omer and Blanche (Price) Cook. On May 10, 1950, he married the former Molly Mitchell, who survives.

He was a lifelong resident of Eldorado and was a member of the Eldorado VFW. He was a coal miner and served in the Navy during World War II.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Kenneth (Darlene) Cook of Paducah, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Ms. Kara Cook of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Heather (Ben) Sparks of Louisville, Ky. and Mr. Ross Cook of Lexington, Ky.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Lee Cook.
