John William 'Bill' Owen
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[John William "Bill" Owen, 82, McLeansboro, passed away at 4 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center, McLeansboro.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro. The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, with the Rev. Ken Cook officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery, Eldorado.
He was born on July 3, 1928, in Broughton to Haldon and Ruth (Stewart) Owen. He married Anna Lee Unthank on June 21, 1947, in Morganfield, Ky.
He was a member of First General Baptist Church, McLeansboro. He was a maintenance manager for Thermogas. He was also a mail carrier for 20 years and a farmer for 25 years. Bill was well known for his talent in woodworking, having left many beautiful picture frames, baskets, lamps, etc. with his family. He loved gardening, woodworking and spending time with loved ones.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lee Owen of McLeansboro; two sons, Bruce Lee Owen and wife Debra of Dieterich and Mickey Joe Owen and wife Carla Jo of McLeansboro; a sister, Barbara Falls of Eldorado; six grandchildren, Jeremy Owen and wife Amy of McLeansboro, Jason Owen and wife Allison of Marina, Calif., Joshua Owen and wife Tara of Elberfield, Ind., Jacque Ordner and husband Jeff of Sullivan, Lisa Johnson and wife Ryan of Glen Carbon and Kendall Harris of McLeansboro; six great-grandchildren, Mat and Ali Owen of McLeansboro, Lane and Brody Ordner of Sullivan and Ethan and Nathan Owen of Elberfeld, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stillborn great-granddaughter, Gabriel.
Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home.
