Philip Place
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. Philip Place, 68, of Marion, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at his residence.
He was the husband of Carolyn (Coker) Place, who survives.
Philip was born in Hackensack, N.J., on Feb. 9, 1942, the son of the late George W. and Anna Place.
He served in the U.S. Army as a private first class.
He worked as a electrician prior to retirement and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 26 in Washington, D.C.
Philip is survived by a daughter, Anna Marie (Rhon) Hawkins of Maryland; a son, George William (Toni Lynn) Place III of Maryland; a sister, Betty Jean Johnson of Florida; a brother, George William (Carol) Place of Maine; and three grandchildren.
Funeral Services at will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Baker officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. Friday to service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and left at the funeral home.
