Joseph 'Joe' William Knight
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joseph "Joe" William Knight, Harrisburg, 87, departed this life at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born Feb. 27, 1923, the son of Frank Montjoy Knight and Ella Abney Knight in the rural Galatia area (Mt. Moriah, Pleasant Valley, Baker community). He attended Pleasant Valley School and graduated from Harrisburg Township High School. On Sept. 2, 1961, he married Sybil R. (Sizemore) Hipes. She survives. Joe retired from Bridge Structural Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Local 103, Evansville, Ind.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home with burial in Webber Campground Cemetery, Galatia. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the funeral home.
He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Babcock of Waterford, Mich.; stepdaughter, Christine Lee Dolezal of California; 13 stepgrandchildren; 19 great-stepgrandchildren; three great-great-stepgrandchildren; five nephews, George (Sue) Knight of Harrisburg, Frank (Sally) Knight of Moweaqua, Jerry Reed of Maryville, Donald (Mary) Wiseley of Waterford, Mich., and David (Joan) Knight of Waterford, Mich.; two nieces, Ruby Joy (Tim) Bronke of Tamaroa and Maxine (Robert) Dunn of Kearny, Ariz.; and numerous stepnephews, nieces, other family members and good friends Linda and Kenneth Butler and lifelong friend Leonard Butler.
Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother; three brothers, Edgar Kingsley Knight, Clifford Montjoy (Ruby) Knight and Frank Maynor (Mayme) Knight; infant sister, Ruby Knight; two brothers-in-law, Pat Wiseley and Frank Babcock; three nieces, JoElla (Knight) Reed, Marilyn (Knight) Chambers and Julia Faye Knight; a nephew, Robert Knight; as well as a stepson, Michael Howard Hipes; stepdaughter, Margaret Ellen Normington; and two stepgrandsons.
Memorial contributions may go to Webber Campground Cemetery or Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
