Wilma Elms Swan
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Wilma Elms Swan, 89, Clarksville, Tenn., former Carrier Mills resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, in Clarksville, Tenn.
Wilma was born on Dec. 28, 1921, in Carrier Mills to the late Rochel and Hilda Knuth Dalton. She first married Wendell Elms, and he was killed in a mining accident on May 22, 1948. She later married Tom Swan, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1978.
She was a member of the Main Street Church of God in Carrier Mills, graduated with the Class of 1938 from Carrier Mills High School and retired from the A.L. Bowen Center.
Wilma is survived by a daughter, Carol and Jerry Casteel of Taylorville; four grandchildren, Tom Elms (serving in Afghanistan) and his wife Deborah of Clarksville, Tenn., Stacey and Kevin Deware of Kansas, Kelly Hoehn of Taylorville and Kevin Casteel of Flanigan; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands; a son, Jim Elms; and a sister, Genevieve Pankey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Larry Morse will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Memorial in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
