Mildred Bosaw Emmerson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mildred Bosaw Emmerson, 96, of New Haven, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Ridgway Manor Nursing Home in Ridgway.

She was born on May 19, 1914, in Carmi, the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Roark) West.

Her parents; two sisters, Ruth Wiseman and Kathryn Poshard; and one brother, Clarence West, preceded her in death.

Mildred was a homemaker, a cook for the New Haven Grade School and a cook for many restaurants in town. For many years she wrote a newspaper column about the latest happenings in New Haven. She was a lifetime member of the New Haven Presbyterian Church where she was an ordained elder. Mildred was also a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary of New Haven Post No. 1141. She was an avid quilter and leaves behind many treasured quilts for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bosaw, on Jan. 19, 1968, whom she married on Nov. 29, 1938; a son, Joe Wayne, in 1940; daughter-in-law, Ellen (Mike) Bosaw, on Aug. 14, 2001; also husband Eldred Emmerson in Feb. 15, 1988, whom she married on April 5, 1975; and a stepson, Jerry (Sondra) Emmerson, in 1982.

Surviving are two sons, Kenny and Barb Bosaw of Shawneetown and Mike Bosaw, also of Shawneetown; one daughter, Susan and Doyle Wilson of Mt. Zion; two stepdaughters, Beth Emmerson of Evansville, Ind. and Catherine Emmerson of Norris City. Her eight grandchildren are Shelly and Chuck Vinyard of Shawneetown, Scott and Michelle Bosaw of Ridgway, Kristy Goebel of Ridgway, Jason and Shawna Bosaw of Shawneetown, Mendy and Eric Scherrer of Omaha, Hailey and Stephen Fals of Junction, Todd and Laurel Wilson of Austin, Texas, and Molly and Steve Tenuto of Mt. Zion; two stepgrandchildren, Gidget and Andy Wagner of Carmi and Rodney and Brandi Emmerson of New Haven; 13 great-grandchildren, Matt and Kim Vinyard of Golconda, Ashley Vinyard of Shawneetown, Dawson Scherrer and Jaden Scherrer both of Omaha, Kyler, Chloe, and Grant Bosaw, all of Ridgway, Audie Goebel of Ridgway, Katy Fals of Junction, Bree Bosaw and Taylor Bosaw of Shawneetown, and Skyler Tenuto and Madalynn Tenuto of Mt. Zion; one great-great-grandchild, Lily Vinyard of Golconda; and three great-great-stepgrandchildren, Matthew Emmerson of New Haven, Kaylee Wagner and Zach Wagner both of Carmi.

Visitation for Mildred was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral services will be held at the New Haven Presbyterian Church 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, with the Rev. Wade Halva officiating. Burial will be at the Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven.
