Dennis Jerry Wheatley

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dennis Jerry Wheatley, 57, of Benton, passed away at 11:39 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, in the Leffler-Poulson Funeral Home, Benton, with the Rev. Tony Auxier officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dennis was born on April 9, 1953, in Chicago, the son of Jerry and Carmen (Sjoquist) Wheatley. He married the former Susan Kern on Feb. 22, 1975, and she survives.

Mr. Wheatley was a laborer and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife: Susan Wheatley, Benton; two daughters: Jessica Marie and husband Chad Hutchinson, and Nicole Denise Wheatley, both of Benton; two grandsons: Gage Reeder and Caleb Baker, both of Benton; his mother: Carmen Rude of Galatia; his mother-in-law: Mildred Kern of Benton; six sisters: Diane and husband John Madland of Park Ridge, Jo Anne Czart of West City, Sandra Eady of Harrisburg, Julie Eady of Chicago, Judy Pinkston and Tammy Wheatley, both of Royalton; a brother-in-law: Charles Kern and wife Kathy of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters-in-law: Karen and husband Larry Bezzone of Mount Vernon, Tammy and husband Paul Brinks of Park Ridge; three uncles, two aunts and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, a brother Benjamin Wheatley, and his stepfather: George Rude.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Dennis J. Wheatley and will be accepted at the funeral home.
