Bob Dowdy

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Bobby Gene Dowdy, 76, of Harrisburg, passed away 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Bobby was born on Jan. 8, 1934, in Saline County, son of Othor and Nell (Butler) Dowdy. He married Carla Shewmake on Sept. 28, 1954, and she survives in Harrisburg.

He was formerly a captain at the Vienna Correctional Center. He was a member of Dorrisville Social Brethren Church.

In addition to his wife Carla, Bobby is survived by a daughter, LaDonna Gray and husband Sam of Carrier Mills; son, Steven Dowdy and wife April of Harrisburg; sister, Pat Steapleton and husband J. R. of Carrier Mills; five grandchildren, Julie Gray of Stonefort, Mat and Devyn Kerley of California, Brandon, Bobby and Nathan Dowdy of Harrisburg; six great-grandchildren, Falisha Barter of Stonefort, Matyson, Adrian, Jordon, Nicky and Nathan, all of California; three nephews, Kevin Dowdy of Harrisburg, Bryan Dowdy of Eldorado and Bobby Dale Dowdy of Hobart, Ind.; and two nieces, Debbie Stahl and Diane Braselton of Hobart, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Dowdy of Hobart, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Roy Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
