Melvin Eugene 'Gene' Brooks

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. Melvin Eugene "Gene" Brooks, 73, resident of Carrier Mills Nursing Home, former resident of Meredosia, passed away at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

He was the widower of Doris Jean (Tanner) Brooks, who preceded him in death.

Melvin was born in East Alton on Sept. 3, 1937, the son of the late James Melvin and Blanche Edna (Cloninger) Brooks.

Graveside services will be at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010.
