Joan Rogers Saylor

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joan Rogers Saylor, 78, died on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at her home in Metropolis.

She was born in Harrisburg on June 21, 1932, to the late Alvin and Tessie Rogers. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Velma Rogers Martin Rinker; and a nephew, Jerry Lee Martin.

Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Charles Richard Saylor; and three children, Charles Roger Saylor and wife Connie of Shelbyville, Tenn., Cindy Jo Johnson and Jayne Ann Bunyard of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Charles Winfred Bunyard, Nicholas Charles Johnson and Kathryn Elise Bunyard of Metropolis and Matthew Charles Saylor of Shelbyville, Tenn.; two nieces, Connie Betenbough and husband Ron of Lubbock, Texas and Rebecca Heath and husband Carl of Carterville.

Mrs. Saylor was a member of First Baptist Church of Metropolis. She was known for her love of flowers, art and her pets.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Metropolis. The Rev. Louis Brinker and the Rev. Joe Buchanan will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis and from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Metropolis.
