James 'Jim' Carlson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James "Jim" Carlson, 75, Harrisburg, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at his residence.

Jim was born in Grove City, Minn., on Nov. 7, 1934, to the late Gothfred and Nellie (Paulsen) Carlson. He married Patty Sullivan on Nov. 7, 1994, and she survives in Harrisburg. Jim formerly worked as a plant manager for various manufacturing companies. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg. He was a Korean War veteran in the United States Navy. Jim was instrumental in starting the homeless shelter and the Habitat for Humanity program in Harrisburg. Jim was an avid golfer and a member of the Shawnee Hills Country Club.

Jim is survived by his wife, Patty of Harrisburg; daughter, Teri Hardy and husband Keith of O&#39;Fallon; son, Jim Carlson of Baltimore, Md.; daughter, Tracy Regan of Wauconda; son, Andrew Carlson and wife Lariza of Minneapolis, Minn.; two stepsons, Jody Goolsby of Harrisburg and Jerry Goolsby of Decatur; stepdaughter, Jennifer King of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gothfred and Nellie Carlson; and one brother, Russell Carlson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg. The Rev. Judith Beyler will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg.
