The Rev. Richard S. Hubble
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Rev. Richard S. Hubble, 82, of Galatia, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1927, in Wheeling, Mo., to the late Clarence and Chloe (Posten) Hubble. He married Dorothy Finley on May 10, 1952, and she preceded him death on April 22, 1994. He married Martha Jameson on March 29, 1997.
Surviving family members include his wife, Martha Hubble of Galatia; daughter, Dottie (Bob) Edwards of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Richard "Rick" Hubble of Harrisburg; three stepchildren, Jimmy (Debra) Burford of Marion, Wayne (Debbie) Burford of Troy, Mo. and Mark (Pam) Burford of Zeigler; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and three brothers, Charles, John and Enice Hubble.
Richard graduated from the University of Missouri in 1951 and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1954. He pastored churches in Cave-In-Rock, Princeton and Forrest Home before becoming the associational missionary for Fairfield Association in McLeansboro. In 1967, he moved to Harrisburg and became the director of missions for Saline Baptist Association and served for 25 years.
Dorothy and Richard started the Saline Association food pantry in the 1980s and he continued volunteering for many years after his retirement. He also served on the board of directors for the Harrisburg Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jared Mitchell will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Auburn Presbyterian Cemetery near Elsberry, Mo., at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard and Dorothy Hubble Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
