Raleigh Chief: Keep doors locked, deter thieves
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Raleigh Police Chief Doug Pyle and the Saline County Sheriff's Office have investigated three burglaries in the last three days in the village and several in past few weeks.
Pyle said no specific items appear to be targeted. Among the various items reported missing have been tools, chairs, saddles and DVD players.
The similarities between the cases are that the thieves are taking the paths of least resistance by targeting unlocked vehicles, garages and outbuildings.
"They attempted, but were not successful, in trying to gain entry by force (in one instance), but were not able to get in," Pyle said.
"We ask people to keep their doors locked and vehicles locked and if they see anything to report it to us or the sheriff's department."
The Raleigh Police Department number is 268-4238 and an answering machine records a message if Pyle is not in the office. The sheriff's office is is 252-8661.
