Alfred Duane Shong
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Alfred Duane Shong, 73, Harrisburg, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Alfred was born on Nov. 7, 1936, in Mohall, N.D., to the late Robert Shong and Clarice (Yale) Shong. Alfred married Marilyn Carbahal on Aug. 15, 1959, and she survives in Harrisburg. He was a Korean War veteran with service in the United States Marine Corps. He was a former member of the Moose and Eagles lodges in Los Angeles, Calif., and the American Legion of Bell, Calif.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, Alfred is survived by two sons, Scott Shong and wife Emelita of the Philippines and Brad Shong and wife Lydia of Mountainview, Calif.; three grandchildren, Zoe, Rachel Ann and Tyler Shong; two sisters, Dora Mae Rosendahl of Romeoville and Janet Hankes and husband Erwin of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Howard Shong.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Sunday. Condolences may be sent to the family through the obituary page at the Internet site www.reedfuneralchapel.com.
