Karen S. 'Sissy' Owens
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Karen S. "Sissy" Owens, 59, of Eddyville, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at University of Arkansas Center for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Ark.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1950 in Harrisburg to Edward "Bud" and Betty (Palmer) Owens.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Owens of Eddyville; one brother, Russell Owens of Eddyville; three sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Miller of Simpson, Marilyn (John) Wallace of Junction and Becky (Wilburn) Stafford of Harrisburg; nieces, Michele (Donnie) Wiltermood, Theresa Owens, Amity (Krist) Thodoropoulos, Jessi (Mike) Hall, Heather (Todd) Goodson and Kalika Miller; nephew, Zeb Miller; great-nieces, Tiffany Wiltermood and Ali Goodson; great-nephews, Tyler Wiltermood and Josh Wiltermood; and her beloved pets, Blu and Magnum.
She worked for Family Counseling Center as an adult services program coordinator. She had a bachelor's degree in recreation and a master's in social work from Southern Illinois University and went to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville for two years. She was a member of the Eddyville Missionary Baptist Church in Eddyville. She enjoyed family activities with her nieces and nephews and loved to fish.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Owens.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial will be at the Eddyville Cemetery.
