David W. Lewis
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[David W. Lewis, 88 of Harrisburg, went home to be with the Lord at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
David was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Gallatin County to the late D.M. and Radie (Fairless) Lewis. He married Oma Lee McClerren on July 30, 1950. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary later this month.
He accepted the Lord as his Savior at age 12. He began farming when he was 18 and farmed for 70 years. His first farm was at Glen O. Jones Lake before it was converted into a lake. He and his family moved to Harrisburg in 1946 and continued to farm. The love of his life was his God, his family and farming. He farmed with his brother, Lucian, for many years with his wife beside him in the family operation. In addition to farming, they operated a business in spreading limestone for many area farmers.
He is survived by his wife Oma Lee Lewis; children, Robert and Becky Claborn of Enid, Okla., Greg and Janet Lewis, Steve and Christy Lewis, Ted and Cindy Boulds, all of Harrisburg; and 11 grandchildren, Preston and Baret Claborn, Matthew and Brett Lewis, Michelle, Dianne, and Daniel Lewis, Brad and Cassidy Russell, Austin and Jacob Lewis and Ryan and Courtney Boulds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debbie; his brothers, Winfield, Donald, John, Oval and Lucian Lewis; and his sisters, Irene Rumsey and Geneva McDonald.
He was a member of Equality Christian Center Church in Equality.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Equality Christian Center. The Rev. Allen Porter and the Rev. Louis DeVous will officiate. Burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery at Eldorado. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Equality Christian Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saline County 4-H. Envelopes will be available at the church.
