Gloria Diane Dennis

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gloria Diane Dennis, 55, of Herald, went to Heaven Tuesday evening, July 13, 2010, at her home.

She was born Oct. 13, 1954, in Du Quoin, the daughter of Dan and Mary Davis and Cecil and Edna Wright. She was married on April 20, 1974, in Harrisburg, to Barry Dennis. Gloria, along with her husband, was the owner and operator of The Coffee Shop on Main Street in Carmi.

Gloria spent many happy years volunteering at Carmi Christian School. She loved Jesus and her family, and enjoyed scrapbooking and traveling.

She was a loving wife and mother, and is survived by her husband of 36 years, Barry; her daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Stephen Porter of Newburgh, Ind.; a son, Benjamin Dennis of Herald; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carole and John Mitchell of Savoy and Marsha and Art Hatfield of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law, Maggie Trammel of Harrisburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Barb Trammel of Harrisburg; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Stephanie Dennis of Carmi; two precious grandsons, Riley and Caden Porter of Newburgh, Ind.; and Cecil and Betty Wright of Eldorado; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her.

She was preceeded in death by a brother, Fred Trammel.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at World Harvest Church on state Route 14 in Carmi. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, in the church. Gloria Dennis will be laid to rest in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
