Lena (Bolatto) Johnson Carrier
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lena (Bolatto) Johnson Carrier, 94, Harrisburg, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1915, in Harrisburg to the late Joseph and Rose (Buffo) Bolatto. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Johnson; and later by Loren Carrier. Mrs. Carrier also was preceded by brothers, Mike and James Bolatto.
Following her graduation from Harrisburg Township High School in 1934, Lena held several positions at local Harrisburg businesses. She was an active member of the St. Mary Catholic Church of Harrisburg. She enjoyed volunteering for the Harrisburg Medical Center Auxiliary, being named Auxiliary Member of the Year for 2002. She belonged to the Friends of the Library, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Ladies Home Extension and the Harrisburg Women's Club. Visiting those in nursing homes and homebound friends was an enjoyment of hers.
Surviving family members include a sister, Jennie Landvatter of Ballwin, Mo. Although she had no children of her own, she considered the following nieces and nephews as her own, including Joe (Lisa) Bolatto of Evansville, Ind.; nieces, Regina Bolatto of Okawville, Michele (Jamie) Vincent of Central City, Ky., Leanna (Phil) Bankston of Stockbridge, Ga. and Patricia (William) Watson of Harrisburg; great-nephews, Drew (Ann) Watson of Owensboro, Ky., Ross Vincent of Central City, Ky., Michael (Stephanie) Vincent of Bowling Green, Ky. and Michael Bolatto of Evansville, Ind.; great-nieces, Claire Bolatto of Evansville, Ind. and Erin (Nathan) Nelson of St. Louis, Mo.; and great-great-nieces, Ann Lawton Watson of Owensboro, Ky., Eleanor Watson of Owensboro, Ky. and Ciara Matney of Bowling Green, Ky.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m. and burial at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following: St. Mary Catholic Church of Harrisburg Building Fund, the Harrisburg Public Library or Helping Hands of the 4-Cs.
