Keith D. Craig, 39, was arrested by the Hardin County Sheriff's Department and charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery in connection with the incident.
Sheriff Tom Seiner said deputies and State Police responded to the Hog Rock campground near Cave-In-Rock about 7:30 a.m. Sunday to find two stabbing victims, whose names have not yet been released by authorities. A bystander behind the concessions area was pushed into a pot of boiling water. He was treated and released for burns, according to Seiner.
"I've been told there was a verbal altercation and he pulled out the knife and held it to the male's throat. And then he cut his throat after a few minutes and stabbed the female in the abdomen," Seiner said.
Craig was subdued by other campers until officers could arrive on the scene.
The stabbing victims were taken by emergency helicopter to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. Their condition is not yet known, Seiner said.
Craig was taken to Hardin County Hospital with minor injuries related to being subdued by the campers. Craig had a high blood-alcohol content and was held for a few hours at the hospital before being released to authorities.
He was transported to the Saline County Detention Center Sunday
afternoon, Seiner said.
Bond is set at $250,000 for Craig. His first court appearance is set for Tuesday morning in Hardin County Circuit Court.
Seiner also reported a motorcycle was stolen from the Hog Rock campground. The thief, or thieves, took a 1977 Harley-Davidson, which was recovered about noon Monday in Marion, Ky. The motor was gone and the rest of the motorcycle was dismantled and left on the side of the road. Hardin County Sheriff's Department, the ISP and Marion, Ky. police are investigating the theft.
